Get To Know Luis Barboza

Dr. Barboza grew up in western Kansas and has always had a strong interest in science and medicine. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Cellular Biology from the University of Kansas in 2011 before going on to earn his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City.

He completed his residency training in Anesthesiology in Kansas City, followed by an Interventional Pain Management fellowship at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he received specialized training in diagnosing and treating complex pain conditions.

Following fellowship, Dr. Barboza practiced pain management in West Texas for two years before making the move to Austin in 2026 to join Greater Austin Pain Center. He is passionate about helping patients better understand the source of their pain and providing personalized, minimally invasive treatment options designed to help them return to the activities they enjoy.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Barboza enjoys exploring new restaurants, working out, golfing, and restoring classic vehicles. He is excited to call Austin home and looks forward to serving patients throughout the Greater Austin community.

Licensed to practice medicine in Texas, Dr. Hynes is a member of the following:
